When you visit Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, you\’re absolutely transported to magical place! Not only is there the Disney customer service, some Disney characters, and great pools, but a world class spa, beaches, and restaurants! For accommodations, there are many choices. You can do a regular room that typically sleeps four people in two queen beds with a variety of views–standard, garden, ocean–or you can do a villa! Just like the villas at Disney World, there are studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and larger villas options. However, at Aulani, within each category, you can choose a view. So. Many. Choices! Standard, poolside garden view, island garden view, and ocean view. Of course, these progressively get more expensive as well!
What does all that mean? Here are the views:
Standard view: Conference center, parking lot, parking garage
Poolside garden view: Partial view of the pool, courtyards, or water features
Island Garden view: At least partial view of the mountains (mouka as they say here), spa, or landscaping
Ocean view: At least a partial ocean view
For my family\’s stay, we opted to book a deluxe studio with a standard view. We are a family of three, so have the pull out couch worked fine, and we enjoyed having the couch for seating during the day! With a standard view room, we knew we would probably have a balcony that overlooked the parking area, but since we planned to spend our days at the pool and the beach, we decided the savings was worth it.
When we checked in, we were pleased to discover that we had been upgrade to an island garden view. I was thrilled to not be looking over the parking lot!
Turns out, that view was even better than I expected! From the balcony, we looked directly over the lawn where the luau is held, but to the right, it was all ocean!
These photos were just taken with my iPhone 8 so no fancy zoom lenses or anything!
Inside, the room was lovely and well laid out! The couch was a nice little seating area. Bedding for the pull out was in that ottoman there, and there was a TV to the left in the photo.
The balcony is to the right.
The queen sized bed was very comfortable and had a traditional Hawaiian quilt. The pillows were plentiful and plush!
On the bed was a Mickey head made from a hand towel and washcloth along with that cute bookmark and plumeria flower clip.
On the desk nearby was the cutest Mickey lamp! It looked like a fun surfing Mickey from the 50s.
The bathroom was lovely and huge! The main area had the sub/shower and the sink, but there was a separate toilet area with a pocket door. The toiletries were high end H2O products made especially for Aulani and smelled so yummy!
The studios have a small kitchenette area. We really only used the coffee maker, but it was handy to have. We could easily have made lunch here! There were a few dishes and some silverware.
The closet in the very front was spacious. It contained a very plush robe, safe, Pack N Play, iron and ironing board, and a luggage rack. It also had a wooden step stool which I assume was for the main bed, but it could\’ve been used in the bathroom as well if little ones needed a boost to brush their teeth!
Overall, the room was beautiful and very quiet. They seemed well insulated. The beds were at the back of the room away from the hall so we didn\’t hear any noise from neighbors. We were very pleased and would certainly book this studio again!
