After taking you through the first third of our amazing Adventures by Disney trip to Italy and the Amalfi Coast, I\’m ready to tell you about the next part of our vacation!
Pompeii We woke up and packed up our room and set our luggage out in the hallway. Tinkerbell collected them while we had breakfast at the hotel. Then we boarded our motor coach to Pompeii. We were departing Sorrento but leaving a little piece of our hearts there; we will be back for sure.
It took us about an hour to get from Sorrento to the town of Pompeii. We knew today would be hot, but the ABD guides always had waters to hand out throughout the entire vacation. They also had anything and everything you might have forgotten or would ever need on a trip. It was so wonderful! Also, most of Italy\’s bathrooms in public areas cost money, but while you are with ABD guides, Disney pays for it! Michael was also with us on this adventure, and he did an amazing job of letting us see everything there was to see in this historical site. Here we also received our fourth pin to add to our collection.
After Pompeii, we boarded our motor coach for the train station where we traveled over to Florence.
The train was a Ferrari bullet train, and took us three hours to get there. ABD fed us box lunches while on the train and got our First Class tickets for the ride.
Henry is off exploring!
Florence~Hotel Bernini
We arrived in Florence and then to the Hotel Bernini with a welcome drink from ABD. We headed up to our room to unpack and had a great view of the bustling streets of Florence. The room was absolutely amazing, and the hotel was 5 star.
We had a few hours to ourselves, and then got ready for the ABD welcome dinner in The Parliament Room at our hotel. This night the ABD guides took the Jr Adventurers to watch a Disney movie (Inside Out) after dinner. All of the adults were taken downstairs to have a wine “eating”…amazing wine with biscotti that you dip and eat. We got to visit and learn more about our other fellow adventurers.
Michelangelo\’s David sculpture!
The next morning, we had a late start and slept in a little. We headed to breakfast at the hotel which was even better than the last hotel–not sure how because both were great! This day we did a walking tour of Florence. We had a new guide here to talk to our group on our headsets. These headsets were provided for the whole trip and called you Whisperers.
She took us to Uffizi Museum to see works of art by Michelangelo and all the greats. This was about a 2-hour tour, and while we were with the new guide, our ABD guides took the Jr Adventurers to do a scavenger hunt throughout the museum. We got our fifth pin of our collection.
We then left and walked over to the Academia to see Michelangelo’s sculpture, David. After our walking tour, Disney treated us to the best gelato EVER with homemade cones.
We headed back to our hotel to rest for a bit and get ready for a night out on our own. Marcello made our reservations to the restaurant. Again, an incredible meal. On the way, we stopped at a carousel in town for Henry to ride. Very magical.
We still have three days left in Italy, but I\’ll save the rest for next week!
